The NCITE Complete Streets and Safety Committee is a forum for NCITE members to discuss issues related to overall safety on the local and lower volume roads. There will be an emphasis on pedestrian safety and neighborhood traffic issues. All members are welcome to attend the meetings. There is also a mail list for this committee which will allow all interested parties to be copies on all committee correspondence including announcements of meetings, release of meeting minutes and any follow-up research that is conducted. FHWA Achieving Multimodal Networks: Applying Design Flexibility and Reducing Conflicts: Highlights ways that planners and designers can apply the design flexibility found in current national design guidance to address common roadway design challenges and barriers. It focuses on reducing multimodal conflicts and achieving connected networks so that walking and bicycling are safe, comfortable, and attractive options for people of all ages and abilities.

FHWA Guide for Improving Pedestrian Safety at Uncontrolled Crossing Locations: Provides guidance to agencies, including best practices for each step involved in selecting countermeasures at uncontrolled pedestrian crossing locations. 

US Access Board - Pedestrian Access to Modern Roundabouts: Guidance related to ADA access and design best practices at modern roundabouts.



Wednesday, June 12th (10 am to noon) - Metro Transit Franklin Operations and Maintenance Facility Tour

Join the NCITE Complete Streets and Safety Committee for a tour of Metro Transit's Franklin Operations and Maintenance Facility! Thursday, July 18th (2 pm to 3:30 pm) - DEZIGNLINE Quick-Build Bike/Ped Safety Infrastructure Solutions

Join the NCITE Complete Streets and Safety Committee as we learn about the DezignLine product line that has been implemented across the Twin Cities for low-cost pedestrian curb extensions, separated bike lanes, and other uses! The products are strong, modular, adjustable, cost-effective steel rail systems that are rapidly deployable, designed for permanent or temporary installation, require no excavation, allow for storm water drainage, have a narrow footprint, and are aesthetically appealing.  Installation does not require any special skill set or training. (212 3rd Ave N., 1st Floor Coworking Space, Minneapolis, MN 55401)
