About Us

ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals (ITE) works to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users, helping to build smart and livable communities. Founded in 1930, ITE is a volunteer-driven association of more than 18,000 engineers, planners, consultants, educators, researchers, technologists, and students working in more than 78 countries.

ITE North Central Section (NCITE) is affiliated with the ITE Great Lakes District. We provide opportunities for professional development and community building at the regional and local levels through annual meetings, training, luncheons, and connecting members with area Student Chapters.

NCITE consists of ITE members residing in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. NCITE was organized in 1963 and, like its parent organization, ITE, has its roots in the traffic engineering profession. However, NCITE values our since widened diversity within the transportation field, and count planners, architects, retired professionals, and technicians among its membership. One only needs to be active in the field of transportation to be eligible to join ITE. When individuals join ITE as members, they are automatically associated with NCITE based on their state of residence.

There are five active student chapters of within the ITE North Central Section: University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, North Dakota State University, South Dakota State University, University of Minnesota-Duluth, and University of North Dakota.
